Punycode.tools

Terms of use

These terms govern your use of Punycode.tools (the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service in any way—whether or not you read every section—you agree to be legally bound by these terms and our privacy policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

What the Service is

Punycode.tools offers browser-based tools to convert, decode, and inspect Punycode and internationalized domain name (IDN) text, and related utilities. The Service is meant to help people understand and work with domain labels safely and correctly. It is provided for general information and tooling; it is not legal advice.

Acceptable use

You may use the Service only for lawful, honest purposes. We intend it for legitimate security research, software development, education, brand protection, personal safety when checking suspicious links, and similar good-faith uses.

You must not use the Service (including its outputs) to plan, enable, or conceal:

  • Phishing, fraud, or scams — including tricking people into trusting fake login pages, payments, or brands.
  • Impersonation or brand abuse — posing as another person or organization to deceive users or systems.
  • Harassment or abuse — targeting individuals or groups with deceptive or harmful domain strategies.
  • Malware or unauthorized access — distributing malware, breaking into systems, or bypassing security controls where prohibited.
  • Illegal activity — any use that violates applicable laws or regulations, or infringes others’ rights.

You are solely responsible for how you use the Service and any data you enter. If you are unsure whether a use is allowed, do not proceed, or seek professional advice.

We are not responsible for misuse

The Service is a neutral technical utility. We do not participate in your decisions, we do not endorse what you type or produce with the tools, and we are not a party to any dispute between you and anyone else (including victims, companies, regulators, or platforms). To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, harm, or claim arising from your use of the Service, another visitor’s use of the Service, or any reliance on outputs—whether or not that use is in good faith, and including use in bad faith that violates these terms or the law.

Indemnification

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Punycode.tools, its operators, and their respective owners, affiliates, contractors, and personnel (collectively, the “Indemnified Parties”) from and against any and all claims, demands, investigations, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses—including reasonable attorneys’ fees—arising out of or relating to: (a) your access to or use of the Service; (b) your violation of these terms; (c) your violation of any law or the rights of a third party; (d) any allegation that your use of the Service caused harm; or (e) your use of the Service in bad faith, including phishing, fraud, scams, impersonation, harassment, malware distribution, or other misuse. We may assume exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification by you, at your expense.

Enforcement and cooperation

We may refuse, suspend, or limit access to the Service for any reason, including if we reasonably believe these terms have been violated. Nothing in these terms prevents us from complying with law enforcement, regulators, court orders, or lawful requests from third parties (such as hosting or DNS providers). We may preserve and disclose information when required or reasonably appropriate to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the Service.

Release

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you hereby release and forever discharge the Indemnified Parties from any and all claims, controversies, and damages (actual and consequential) arising out of or in any way connected with disputes between you and any third party related to your use of the Service.

No warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or suitable for your specific situation.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Punycode.tools and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. This includes, without limitation, claims arising from another person’s use of the Service (including bad-faith use), claims by third parties that they were harmed by you or by someone using the Service, or claims that outputs from the Service were inaccurate or misused.

In no event shall our aggregate liability exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us to use the Service in the twelve months before the claim (which is zero for free use) or (b) one hundred dollars (USD), if such a cap is permitted where you live. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

Eligibility and your representations

You represent and warrant that you have the legal capacity and authority to agree to these terms (including, where applicable, that you are of legal age to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction). You represent that you are not barred from using the Service under applicable law and that you will comply with all laws that apply to you. You represent that information you provide to us (for example through the contact flow) is accurate and not misleading.

License to access the Service

Subject to these terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to access and use the Service for your own internal, personal, or legitimate business purposes. You must not: copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Service except as allowed by applicable law; reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code except where you have a non-waivable statutory right to do so; interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers or networks connected to it; use automated means to access the Service in a manner that imposes an unreasonable load; circumvent any access controls; or use the Service to build a competing product by systematically scraping or replicating functionality.

Your inputs

You retain your rights in the text and data you enter. You represent that you have all rights necessary to enter that content and that doing so does not violate anyone else’s rights. You grant us only the rights reasonably necessary to operate the Service as designed (for example, processing on your device and any strictly necessary transmission through the internet stack when you load pages or contact us).

Intellectual property and feedback

The Service, including its branding, user interface, and compiled assets, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited license above, no rights are granted to you. If you provide suggestions, ideas, or other feedback, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, fully paid-up license to use that feedback for any purpose without obligation to you.

Service changes and availability

We may change, suspend, limit, or discontinue the Service—or any feature—at any time, with or without notice, for any reason. We are not liable for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation, including loss of access to locally stored data if you change devices or clear storage.

No high-risk or emergency use

The Service is not intended for emergency services, medical decisions, nuclear or aviation safety, or other ultra-high-risk environments. You agree not to rely on outputs for safety-critical decisions without independent verification by qualified experts.

Export, sanctions, and restricted users

You represent that you are not located in, under the control of, or a national or resident of any country or entity subject to comprehensive embargoes or sanctions where use would be prohibited, and that you are not listed on any government restricted-party list, to the extent such restrictions apply to your use of a website of this nature. You agree to comply with applicable export and sanctions laws.

Governing law, venue, and dispute format

For purposes of these terms, the Governing Jurisdiction means the country (and, if applicable, state or province) where Punycode.tools’s operators have their principal place of business.

Except where prohibited by mandatory local law (including mandatory consumer laws in your country of residence), these terms and any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to the Service or these terms—including non-contractual disputes—shall be governed by the substantive laws of the Governing Jurisdiction, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You agree that the courts located in the Governing Jurisdiction have exclusive jurisdiction, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there, except that we may seek injunctive or equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction worldwide.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you agree that disputes will proceed only in your individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding. Where permitted, you waive any right to a jury trial in any dispute arising from these terms or the Service.

Other legal terms

  • Severability. If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect, and the invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.
  • No waiver. Failure to enforce any right or provision is not a waiver of that right or provision.
  • Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these terms without restriction.
  • Entire agreement. These terms (together with the privacy policy) constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede any prior understandings.
  • No third-party beneficiaries. Except for the Indemnified Parties as expressly provided, nothing confers any rights on third parties.
  • Injunctive relief. You agree that a breach of these terms may cause irreparable harm for which monetary damages are inadequate, and we may seek injunctive or equitable relief in addition to any other remedies.
  • Survival. Provisions which by their nature should survive termination of your use—including indemnity, disclaimers, limitations of liability, governing law, dispute terms, and this survival clause—survive.
  • Electronic communications. You consent to receive communications from us electronically (for example by posting terms on this site).
  • Interpretation. Section headings are for convenience only. “Including” means “including without limitation.”
  • Mandatory consumer rights. If the law of your country gives you rights that cannot be waived or limited by contract, those rights remain in effect and prevail over any conflicting sentence in these terms only to the minimum extent required.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised “last updated” date when we do so materially. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated terms.
